We are delighted to offer a one-owner vintage Omega Speedmaster, reference 2998-61, which was produced in 1961, and bought by its original, military pilot owner at a NAAFI (military stores) in 1963. The watch comes with some wonderful provenance, including original purchase receipt and payment schedule, photographs of the owner in military fatigues in Singapore in the early sixties, and much more.
This is one of the rare and desirable early ‘straight lug’ Speedmasters, which we feel are much more attractive than the later versions.
The watch has been very well cared for during its life, and returned to Omega in Bienne for a complete service a few years ago. It has had a recent service with our watchmakers and is running perfectly. The watch retains its original 321 Omega movement, serial number 18946197, and original ‘dot over 90’ bezel insert. The dial was changed by Omega many years ago. The watch comes on a new generic bracelet but can also be supplied on vintage Italian leather strap if preferred.
